IT Security Specialist



Our client is looking is a leading prime contractor and complex systems integrator working in partnership with the UK's Ministry of Defence (MoD) and other allies and they have an urgent requirement for an IT Security Specialist to join their team.



The Senior Security Engineer will provide supplemental security engineering effort and support required to define, achieve and maintain security control mechanisms supporting the accreditation of developed systems



Responsibilities



•Assessment of potential security risks and specification of appropriate security control measures or approaches to mitigate such risks.

•Specification and management of security requirements implicit within a system or programme.

•Compilation and production of a variety of security documentation to support contracted security Accreditation processes

•Investigation, assessment and documentation of potential security impacts surrounding changes to Systems, product design or changes in requirements.

•Secure configuration of components and equipments.

•The provision of focused security support to customers, systems engineers and developers.

•The documentation and communication of technical security risks, issues, solutions, and designs

Education/Experience

Essential:



•Broad understanding of the HMG and Government Infosec security policy, standards and guidance.

•Knowledge and understanding of Defence and NATO security accreditation requirements.

•Understanding of the security aspects of Microsoft Windows and Unix-like Operating Systems.

•Ability to review, assess and investigate systems, architectural and design approaches for potential security impacts.

•Conversant with a variety of system architectures, security concepts and techniques including domain based security approaches, cryptographic methods, firewalls and barrier control mechanisms, security methodologies and mechanisms.

•Experience of MoD communication and information systems.

Desirable:



•Technical configuration experience with Government approved or certified security products.

•Formal security related qualifications (focused degree, CISSP, CISM or ITPC competencies).

•Software development processes, skills or expertise.

•Understanding of TEMPEST and other environmental security considerations
